Itinerary

1 Singapore  Shanghai  Ningbo

Assemble at Changi Airport for flight to Shanghai. On arrival, head straight to Ningbo.

After breakfast, visit Ashoka Temple, the only remaining temple in China named after the Indian king. It houses the prized relic of a parietal bone of Sakyamuni, the Buddha in a seven-step stone stupa, about 20inc high in the Hall of Stupa. After which, drive to Zhujiajian Pier for your ferry to Mt. Putuo, one of China’s four sacred Buddhist Mountains, particularly oriented towards the Buddhist deity Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. We will visit the various temples, which include Purple Bamboo GroveSouth Sea Guanyin TempleChao Yin CaveBu Ken Qu Guanyin Temple. Bu Ken Qu Guanyin Temple is the oldest and most important temple in Putuoshan. It is small and by the sea. Legend states a Japanese monk named Hui Er was on his way back to Japan with a newly acquired bronze statue of Guanyin from Mt. Wutai. A strong wind blew up as the ship approached the island of Putuo, forcing the vessel to run aground against a reef. As the storm intensified, Hui Er suddenly envisioned that the violent winds might be a sign of Guanyin’s unwillingness to leave China. He then encountered a fisherman who was marvelling over the deliverance of the distressed ship and offered his home as a shrine for the image of Guanyin.

This morning, visit Huiji Temple (Includes cable car ride), Fayu Temple and Puji Temple. Huiji temple is located on the peak of Foding Hill, commanding an excellent view of the rising sun in the morning. The temple is famous for its large collection of ancient brick carvings portraying the Guanyin Buddha. Fayu Temple is the second largest temple on the island and is famous for its ancient architecture, delicate wood carvings and inscribed calligraphy by ancient emperors. Puji Temple boasts a mighty bronze Pilu Guanyin Statue with harmonious expression and is one of the three biggest temples on Mt. Putuo.

4 Hangzhou  Mt Jiuhua

This morning, visit Xiangji Temple in Hangzhou. Known to be the most famous temple along the grand canal, it is noted for its twin pagodas. After lunch, travel to Mt Jiuhua.

5 Mt Jiuhua

After breakfast ,we will visit Roushen Temple built in the traditional Chinese temple style with an open courtyard in the middle surrounded by halls. Next, proceed to Baisuigong Temple (Includes tram ride) by tram that runs up the hill to the peak. Originally named the Star Picking Temple, it was later given its present name in the 16th century when the eminent monk Wu Xia moved to the mountain for the last days of his life. Legend says that after the monk visited temples on Wutai and Emei mountains, he compiled the Huayan Sutras (written in gold dust and his own blood) and died on Jiuhuashan at age 110. When Emperor Chongzheng of the Qing Dynasty came to power, he had the body of Wu Xia covered in gold leaf and placed in the temple. Following that, visit Huacheng Temple, the oldest and most prominent temple in Mt. Jiuhua. It has a history of more than 1,500 years and also acts as a cultural and historical museum. Lastly, visit Qiyuan Temple which houses three giant images of Buddha, which is the biggest of all statues in Mt. Jiuhua.

6 Mt Jiuhua  Suzhou

In the morning travel towards Suzhou. Visit Hanshan Temple, named after its famous abbot, the temple is famous for its ancient bell and poem. Also visit Shantang Street (inclusive of boat ride) A 7 mile long street started by poet Bai Juyi to improve the traffic of Suzhou.

7 Suzhou  Shanghai

After breakfast, return back to Shanghai and spend some time for shopping. We bring you to visit Tianzifang, An art, shopping and café street preserved in the original Old French Quarter style.

Enjoy free time in Shanghai. Meet back in the hotel at the stated time and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Singapore.
